Student Testimonial

How did you feel when you first came to Mackay Christian College?
When I first came to MCC it was a scary feeling as I didn’t know anyone.  After a short time the other students welcomed me with such joy and warmth.  It took time but once I got to know my fellow students it felt like home.
What are the teachers like?
The teachers are helpful & genuinely caring.  The environment the staff create is what makes me love being a student at MCC.
What are your favourite subjects?
Music – I love to sing and music is part of my culture.  No matter where you come form, music is universal.
Home Economics – I love being in the kitchen, being creative and experimenting with food.  I love making things form scratch.
CLEAR – I love CLEAR because we can express ourselves and learn more about who we are in Christ.  It also helps build my faith.
What sort of opportunities have you had while at MCC?
I have been privileged to go to the Torres Strait with the Missions Team where I was able to experience a different traditional culture.  This allowed me to grow my skills in working with children.
I was accepted as a Senior Mentor so was fortunate enough to be an example to the younger students as well as my peers.
The student body elected me as the House Family Captain for Dennis House.  I loved being in this role as it enabled me to develop my leadership skills.  GO DENNIS!
For Home Economics I took part in the Student Festival of Fashion as well as the Cooking Competition.
I have had a lot of opportunities to do different types of extra-curricula activities.
What are your plans for the future?
I plan to go back to Zambia to study Primary Teaching. I am open to whatever God wants me to do.
Would you recommend MCC to other students?
Yes definitely.  Coming from Africa, it has been a great experience to be part of MCC.  It is a blessing knowing that each day of school I am coming to a safe and caring place.  I really feel at home and would encourage other students to be part of MCC.
